Well !! My 2011,1200 Sporty has no name slash cut mufflers with a bolt on the botton holding the baffles in... Peering inside it looks like the PO. cut the Baffles shorter.. I am hard hearing because I used to Ride a Honda CBX 6 cylinder with a winning performance 6 into one and only the cone on the back.. due to all the packing blowing out in a short time. But the Harley does not sound loud enough to me.. There are no markings on the Slash cuts at all Dealer told me they were Reinharts don't think so.. I am not stupid I don't wick the Throttle every two seconds unless sitting beside a Boom Box Cage. I bought a New Honda CBR 1000 RR with the muffler under the tail.. it was quiet.. The first week I owned it a driver in a 4 lane left turn came over into my lane and put me in the Gutter.. Thank godzilla I had enough room..blew the Horn for a minute and finally he realized what he was doing.. Damn.. Two days later on another 4 lane road a Cage came into the left lane forcing me to the center line before he saw me.. Next week went and got a Muffler and cut it down to half size and the tone was great and the noise only loud if I needed to blip the throttle.. Never had to again.. I don't care what anyone says. Like the Sticker on my Helmet says "LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES" ... and I believe it by all means...
I stand corrected, but have you ever seen a LEO turn on his siren to wake up a cager coming into his lane -now that REALLY works good!!!LOL
I've been riding in Ca all my life and it is going to the dogs thanks to the lefties. I've never had stock pipes very long and never been hasseled...just use your brain.

There lies the problem. A lot of people dont use their brains and dont take responsability for their actions and look to blame someone else or try to get something out of the system.
The only thing thats going to save your ***** is defensive driving plain and simple really, if you are using your horn thats futile or your pipes its too late and you didnt recognize the issue you got sucked into, and now your actions are reactionary (ie, the horn, the biird, revving your loud pipes). I think a lot of riders use the loud pipe thing to justify riding like an idiot and make a lot of noise. Sure sometimes I flip the throttle to alert someone, but I have already been watching what they are doing or not doing, and be extra alert. 40 years of professional driving will do that to you. vehicles just dont turn or drift in front of you on their own without the person behind the wheel doing something to cause it. Always learned to make eye contact with vehicle operators, this way you have a better chance of understanding what they are going to do.

Hey. Is that you on the dozer. We got a D6c looks just like than minus the winch.
Won't waste to much time on this thread that is just a rehash of the same old.
Bottom line act stupid in public you will be treated stupid.

And we've got no one else to thank for this other than the idiots that sit at red lights cracking their throttles, the idiots that leave their homes at 5 in the morning cracking their throttles through the neighborhoods, etc.
Could not be more correct, It is a few jackasses that mess it up for all.

I disagree though.......It is not my fault!......it's the nanny sit'n in the cage with her nanny husband who has all sorts of free time to cry to their caring politician who does not believe in freedom, but rather control, of his little kingdom.
What ever happened to live and let live?
......now it's live my way.
I'll crack my throttle at any stop light I feel like. Get over it nanny! Especially when I'm next to some loud thump'n Donk....where the windows are vibrating, and the mirrors are shaking.
(just a little bity rant....lol)
Jackasses like this is what I am refering to. It just take one to screw it up for all.

Not that long ago a woman drove up the on ramp and came right on over into my lane (#2 lane or center lane). Since her window was down, I asked her if she wanted me to light her cigarette or something since we were that close. Luckily, she moved back into the far right lane. Other than the soccer moms yelling at the kids in the back seat while I am riding behind them, sometimes eye contact is very difficult to make when cage drivers are busy texting with their heads down (or rather up their ****). At least I wasn't on the freeway when the cage drivers were killed not that long ago--for driving on the wrong side. Local news here recently mentioned "66 deaths on valley roads" so far this year. It may not be a lot in some places, but I'd just hate to be one of those who gets killed. I already attended two services last week alone.
If you are still looking at pipes, look at Vance and Hines.... They have some slip-ons that meet requirements and are stamped as such. There are places (parks) that won't even allow bikes in now because of DH's who like to show off their pipes..... In fact, the are now warning bikers about loud pipes on the BRP in the new brochures.
Write your senator.....if she's not too busy trying to take our guns away maybe she would listen to your plea!
.......on second thought, never mind.
Wish you well!
