Jackasses like this is what I am refering to. It just take one to screw it up for all.
By your standards, I'll be a Jackass all day long......get over it and ride. YOU don't like it...wear earplugs!!...then go look in the mirror and say (real loud) "HEEEEEHAAAW"
Well at my age, I'm going to rap my pipes whenever I want to. Now that doesn't mean I'm going through my neighborhood at all hours doing so. But I'm with the guys that talks about having to listen to some idiot in the car next to me with his cd/player so loud it drowns out my bike. We're loosing enough freedoms, can't we enjoy just a few pleasures of our pastime..
In the past cracking pipes was often necessary because the carbureted bikes tended to load up. If you're doing it on an injected bike, you're just saying Hey everyone look at me. I think they have a term for that here.

Maybe I'm just not a conformist, I'd still like to enjoy just a little bit of freedom before having to be told how to live my life. And as far having a term for this, I'm not to concerned about what California might term anything with their record.

I live in California. The cops will enforce it for about 6 months. Then it will only really be used to pull over 1% ers. Once in a while if your patched they will stop you if your lid is not DOT. If your not being a dumb *** the cops wont mess with you.

They can't. The law specifically states that a suspected violation cannot not be the reason for the stop. They don't even cite for non DOT helmets anymore and they can't make a stop unless the rider is not wearing a helmet or is wearing a non motorcycle helmet such as a football or bicycle helmet.
If being followed by a cop for 5 minutes you will commit some kind of violation to get pulled over or that will give him time to make something up. I have seen a crackdown on loud pipes because of complaints, the cops write riders up for non dot helmets. So can one say those that wear beany helmets are the ones that make their noise because its their god given right? Just sayn.

This coming from a state where the Democratic Presidential Candidate has taken every election since 1984, where it is illegal for a retailer to even sell a non DOT helmet, where handle bars that sit 30" above the seat are illegal and of course like almost everywhere else but CA, lane splitting is illegal and will get you a ticket for reckless operation.
