This thread was originally started about the op upgradeing on pipes in Cal and afraid to get a ticket based on mis information. My pipes(Jackpot 2:1) are not crazy loud unless you romp on it. I've had other non stock pipes equally loud. I ride with a non DOT carbon Fiber helmet and I legally carry. Like someone said," use your brain", and that goes no matter where you are riding. It's true Ca has it's problems brought on by politics mostly, but if you like to ride and see some cool **** it's hard to beat.
Nuff said.
Ok, so I went with the American Customs slip-ons. I have to tell you, these things ROCK! Loud, deep sound. I am stoked. Stock look with custom sound. Super low cost, too.
skitszo(spelling) because i say that loud pipes do not improve relations with the general public, and will bring stricter laws and more enforcement of existing laws? evidently, COMMON SENSE is not in the vocabulary of most loud pipe bikers...so laws have to be passed to give the general public the peace and quiet they deserve. yeah, you clowns keep up the good p.r. work--eventually even the guys that try and keep the noise down when prudent will be forced to have stock mufflers.
Enough with the laws already and why bikers!!! Are you kidding me with all the crap going on in our country lets mess with the guys who do more and give more to charity's than any liberal loving politician or person dreamed about. Yes there are idiots who crack there pipes there always will be but guess what we ALREADY have laws just enforce the ones we already have.... As a proud member of my loacl ABATE and MRF and ill never give up fighting for my freedom to ride my modified motorcycle.
The Ca law only applies to bikes made after Jan 1, 2013. Even if you have a model year 13, but if it was produced before Dec. 31, 2012, it is legal to change out your pipes.
Even for older bikes though, if they are too loud, you gonna get a ticket.
It is the fantastic motorcycle friendly roads that keep us here. From mountains, deserts, coastal and lakeshore rides, it makes up for a lot.
The back country roads around San Diego are just right for day rides. Up into the mountains and that fresh clear air can get your head right in just a few hours. There are biker friendly casino for inexpensive eats and the chance to ride with lady luck.
Riding from the Pines to the Redwoods, riding among the Giants, and cruising over to Lake Tahoe from San Francisco are remarkable in their selves. Think the Golden Gate Bridge looks great on post cards, just wait till you rumble over it on your way to Gold Country.
Bikes are all over the place. Lots of friends to make, and great places to stop with other bikers for a beer, great food, some music and great conversation.
Don't get caught up in the Political non-sense. There are easy work arounds for most of the objections posted in this forum.
We have Hog Groups, Hells Angles, Mongols, Individual lone wolf types, and throngs of unassociated groups that attend fantastic events for the biker community. We cruise Laughlin just as easy as Hollister.
For those who want to see the real California, turn off the TV and ride on over for a spell. Bet you get in some great riding, and perhaps a better appreciation of what California has to offer the biking community.
