Default Engine Mounting Bolt Question

I've got a 2012 Limited with 20000 miles. The two front engine mounting bolts are wayyyyy loose. They're supposed to be about 40 ft/lbs, but I keep tightening and tightening, and they never really snug up.

I must have turned each bolt about 15 full rotations, maybe more.

I'm afraid to just keep tightening, in case I'm stripping/breaking something. Any tips before I take it to the shop?

Is there a nut on the other end of the bolt?

If he is trying to tighten either of the bracket bolts labeled #5, there is a nut (7) on the other end and of course they may spin if the nut is not held in position.

Yup, that was it - the service manual diagram does show the nut at the top of the bolt, but it was so small I missed it. I was just turning the bolt AND the nut at once. Once you put a wrench on the nut, it's easy to check the torque. Lesson learned

Thanks guys!

I was thinking bolt #4...

And bracket #12 was stripped. But, as long as you got it 'licked' now!
