I don't even bother mixing the peroxide with water any more. Been doing it for years and years, and it doesn't damage paint, wax, or anything it might get sprayed on. Seriously, you can gargle with it full strength. It works phenomenally! Nothing better, or cheaper. WalMart huge bottle for $1. How can you beat it?

the best solution i've found for removing bugs is a 50/50 mix of distilled water and hydrogen peroxide. i've been using it for 15 or more years on my old cars and motorcycles. the reason i use distilled water is because it leaves no residue like tap water can. it's also less than buck a gallon at walmart. hydrogen preroxide consumes protein. bugs are over 90% protein and that's why when you spray bug splatter with this mix it foams meaning the bug juice is being consumed. wipe your bike clean and go out and murder another bunch of bugs.

I read about Lucas Slick Mist on a hot rod site elsewhere and have been using it for the bikes over last year. I really like this stuff a lot. The garage smells like bubble gum when you use it too.

Also have used peroxide and the hot-wet-towel trick as well.

I got a bottle of HD's Bug Remover as a gift and it does work pretty well. I recognize the smell of their stuff, but can't figure out what it is. Anybody know what is in their Bug Remover that we could make a home brew of the same stuff?

I've used all the methods above at one time or another. In a pinch I usually have a small can of Plexus plastic polish in the tour pack which does pretty well too. Usually if I'm at home I just run water over it with no pressure and wipe with a microfiber towel with a little Meguires liquid soap on it then rinse.

What he said. Works great.

+1 on the Bugslide. The dealer actually recommended it to me.
You can also use it as a detailer on the rest of the bike.

If you want to keep the bugs from sticking and easy to clean use some pledge furniture polish on the windshield.

Me too...auto windex works great on anything, winshield, chrome, paint, helmet visor, etc. Only use the auto version as it's ammonia free.
