Put on a set of ViEDs today on my '12 Ultra....(stock head pipe w/ cat removed & wild pig slip ons). Kept it dialed at 50% per Steve's suggestion.
Absolutely no popping on decel and feels like a little better throttle response. Will ride this weekend and see how it feels/performs.
BTW, I asked Steve a few questions before I purchases them and he was very helpful. Nightrider.com if anyone is interested. Fast shipping, very pleased so far.
Close to the same setup here on my RKC. Decatted head pipe, but no slip-ons, yet. Runs very well and they were indeed a pleasure to work with at Nightrider.
Had my 09 Ultra tuned twice with a PCV, got rid of it and have had much better success with the ViEDs. Wish I would have started with them and saved some $.
Its funny how things change over time! many years ago we got thrown off of forums for suggesting these products because the supporting vendors selling very expensive tuning products didn't like the fact that these simple devices actually worked! Im still banned on the 1130 vrod forum because i ran my vrod muscle with tab slipons and xeids! And it ran great. I sold that bike three years ago and the gentleman that bought it put 50,000 miles on that bike and said it still runs like an animal. I cant tell you the threats i use to get from tuners claiming that i was solely to blame for them loosing money and all the people using these would destroy there bikes.
I had to fool around with it a little to get the popping to go away...apparently when the cat is removed cooler air gets introduced and if you go too rich on the ViEDs it'll pop on decel....I went leaner on the screw and moved up a notch until it went away....next I'll switch out my right and left muffler to hide the brown/blue discoloration...
I just picked up my head pipe from the welding shop yesterday and my Xieds were delivered later that afternoon. It sounds like I have basically the same set up as you guys, except I'm running V&H fishtails slip ons. Are you guys running baffles or torque cones? I'll be using V&H performance baffles, but I'm just curious.
I have a set of FL VIEDs that are only a couple months old now for sale. $70 shipped anywhere in the lower 48, with instructions etc. They do work as advertised for mild customs and stockers, Steve usually suggests they may need to be replaced if major changes are done. PM me if interested.
