Cleaning engine fins and base of cylinders
Here's what I suggest as it works for me...
Get a pair of thin cotton industrial gloves. An old t-shirt will suffice if you don't have the gloves available but the gloves do make it a lot easier. Take some metal/aluminum polish and rub it into the gloves. Imagine rubbing hand lotion on your hands. The more polish you use, the more cross contamination to the black, so be judicious in the amout of polish. Then keeping your hand as flat as possible rub the edges of the fins to remove the oxidation and shine them up a bit. Use a cloth wrapped tightly around a paint stir stick, or something similar, the get into the areas your hand/fingers can't reach. Buff with a clean glove or cloth. Clean any excess polish off the black with mineral spirits. Follow with S100 Engine Brightener.
I didn't know S-100 made an engine cleaner? I use the engine brightner and like the results. Where do you find the engine cleaner, or are you just referring to the Standard S-100 general cleaner?
