Looking to put a fairing on my '08 Road King. Looking for any opinions on recommended brands, dos and don'ts...

Thanks...

I saw a Reckless fairing on a Heritage a couple of weeks ago and it was very nice. It had an Infinity bluetooth head unit and infinity speakers. It sounded dang good. He had Reckless paint it to match his scoot and it came with the head unit and speakers. I think he said he paid 1,100 for it.

Do a search, there are hundreds of threads on this and no clear cut answer.
I have a Deadcentre, love it and you wont likely find any negative threads on it anywhere.

You'll need to search. However I will say this, there is a direct correlation between quality and price. You'll need to decide what's most important to you. You can read more details I've posted in other threads.

For me it's quality, I just ordered a Dead Center last week.

Thanks guys...
I understand there being a correlation between price & quality. I heard good things about both Reckless & Dead Denter fairings. But there is about $1,000 difference between the two...

After I saw them both hands on I had to decide if the difference was worth it, to me it is.

Here are a few things I took into consideration.

-First I didn't care how far the nose of the reckless came over the light. I learned they will all come over some, but by far the reckless seemed to be the most.

-A number of people mentioned drilling new holes in the mounting brackets of the reckless to allow them to sit lower.

-From the windshield to the tip of the nose on the reckless is a straight line. You'll notice DC and others carry the OEM look through them. It's not a stright line.

-Compare the inside of the two fairings where the windshield mounts. Reckless has bolts DC does not.

-Personally I didn't care for the look for the 4 speakers or the 6x9. The Reckless simply has a flat area on their mold to house an option of different configs. That may be a benefit for some, however I wanted 6.5 and the DC looks great with the mold that comes the edge of the speakers.

-The flat area above the head unit in the DC allows for gauge options, iphone or GPS mount. Reckless has a small area above the HU too.

-Then at the core there's the contraction. Reckless uses at fiberglass mat which is certainly strong. Dead Center uses injection molding with fiberglass cloth.

You'll start noticing these things things after you look at countless pictures of aftermarket fairings like I have.

In summary I think Reckless is great for the cost, none better. Personally I knew (so did my wife - fortunately) that I would not be happy unless I had the quality of the Dead Center.

Hope that helps...
