As the little woman rules the roost when on the road(she sleeps most of our rides) I added a little sumpin sumpin to keep her on the seat a little better and maybe less folded up(crumpled) against me. They fold to the side when saddling up or riding solo, will fit with detachable but is quite a lump of weight.
In our much earlier days when my wife still rode with me and I had a Heritage Softail, she was forever falling asleep on the way home many nights as we cruised along the lake towards home. I thought I may be the only one with a wife that did that. I'd have to throw my arm back to keep her from falling right off! When we had two more kids later in life, she stopped riding. I ride solo these days!

What do these look like folded away?

Nope, my wife does it to me all the time. She ends up slouching forward and will often hook her helmet under the back of mine making it very difficult to pick my head up after moving to get a different view in a mirror. I find it humorous and annoying at the same time.
...this is folded, actually out to store. You do have to move the right side to open the lid.
I think they are a neat idea and I can see the appeal of those but unless there's an easy way to simply remove them when not needed I couldn't live with them. My wife doesn't ride with me often enough to justify having them on all the time. I'm not saying she's not worth it, she definitely is but she's only on the back for less than 10% of the miles I put on the bike each year.

Great looking pick of those on. I like it with the backrest to give perspective of what it'd look like on mine.
