2008 SG. NOT looking to add an amp at this time but I'm wondering which would be the more bang-for-my-buck upgrade: replace stock speakers or Hogtunes Tweeter Pod? Thanks!
Your factory head unit (radio) is a 2 ohm unit. If you're not adding an amp, you need to match the speakers to the head unit.
The best Bang-for-your-Buck upgrade would be the Polk MM651's. They are a 6 1/2" - 2 ohm coaxial speaker (actually 2.7 ohm, which is close enough), marine rated and will sound great now, or when you ad an amp.

I was just like you, " No Amp"! Trust me, you will go for an amp. Do yourself a favor and just go for it now. I started with the J&M 7.25's and stock HK. They were definately better than stock but not much louder and distorted horribly beyone halfway volume. On the freeway couldn't hear much. I then added an amp. The RFPBR300X2. 142.99 on Amazon plus 20.00 for wire install kit. Easy install and the difference is unbelievable.
I just did the same setup on a buddies 13 SG except we installed the Polk MM651's (Amazon $121.00) this time. Once I heard them I couldn't believe how much better they were over the J&M's. I have them sitting in the garage and will swap them out this week.
So if you want the best bang for the buck and want to do it ONCE, go for the Fosgate amp with the Polk speakers. You will be very happy and you will be done.

Agreed the J&M xtc are great speakers with an amp. Yep they are $$$ but they do sound great with a good amp. Just my 2c
I replaced my speakers with hogtunes and the tweeter pod, much better than stock IMO. They make my ears ring when its cranked up, lol. Only other upgrade is an amp later on down the road but for now I am happy with how it sounds. I can hear my music just fine cruising 70 down the road. Less than 300 bucks for speakers all around.
I put on Boom speaker over the winter and am very happy with the upgrade. It clears the sound right up over stock. since I'm no audiophile, that was good enough for me.
