I bought a 2nd bike that was a basket case.. It's a 2004 road king. I've completely chromed the bike out, new apes, the complete baddad stretched treatment. I bought some 6x9 lids. I'm used to the street glide and need my tunes here. I'm not looking to get super deep into the audio here, I've already dumped far more into this bike than I ever planned to put into a second bike. With that said, it's at the painter now. The only thing left is setting up a audio system. Like I said it is set up for 2 6x9's I'm not unrealistic here, I understand I'm not going to get great quality here. I know I probably won't be able to hear on the highway, I'm ok with that. The street glide will be used for long trips. This bike will just be used around town. I need recommendations. Speakers, amp, and I'd imagine I need some type of "mini head unit" to run the tunes? I'll be strictly using the iPhone. How do I get my tunes to the amp? With decent quality?
I am a huge fan of the Kicker PXi50.2 set-up, especially for using an iPod/iPhone without a head unit. It has pass throughs so you could add an amp for your 6x9's. Click here to read my install on my Softail Deluxe. HTH.

I imagine that the Kicker unit would run the right pair of 2 ohm 6x9's and you wouldn't need anything else. But I must say how impressed I am with this unit's sound quality and the quality of how it is built.

Looks like that may be a great option, I would imagine I would need to add a external amp to power some high quality 6x9's though. Which is fine because I would probably just add the Pyle type speakers to the crash guard or bars like you did, and run them off of the kicker amp.... Thanks man
If you are willing to wait a bit then I suggest look into the 2013 RK CVO system and get an idea of how Harley did it. The RK has lowers and bag lids speaker-ed up so I am guessing an amp in one of the saddlebags and a simple aux cable run to the ipod.
I saw a road king that had lowers with 6.5" speakers up front and 6x9 lids on the bags. The guy had an Arc KS125.4 4 channel amp running everything and he used some kind of ipod interface to connect the line out of the ipod to the amp, it had a volume control on it... Sounded GREAT.
