so...what'd you walk in on with the stranger and your buddy doing???
LMAO..............That stranger was my Daughter, She was in her moms "my ex's" car. Her and my wife were already getting the festivities started........lol
Women had her own fault to this. Never blast by anyone manuvering especially a bike. Glad she took it to heart and it was not worse. I would easily say most of my close calls had women involved.
I am obsessive about using turn signals whether or not there are cars or other bikes around me because there are also pedestrians around and they also need to know where you are going. Just because you can't see a pedestrian or another vehicle does not mean they are not there and somebody could be sitting in their car about to open a door. I also think if you use a turn signal you pre think your route and road positioning.
Kudos to you for knowing that you made a mistake and learned from it. I see it all too often in my line of work (USMC) where someone messes up, but immediately tries to start pointing fingers.
Glad you kept the shiny side up, and aside from giving your seat a hickey, made it out OK.
All neighborhoods are different, but I am super cautious turning into my drive with cars around.
I do make sure I use a turn signal, if there is a car anywhere around.
I'm thankful nothing bad happened.
This.
My driveway is right after a right hand turn, so I make 2 immediate right turns. Some drivers assume after the first right turn that I'll just go straight up the road and will be right on my rear when I go to turn into my driveway. It happens whether I'm on the bike or my car.
If I feel like the driver behind me isn't paying attention, I will have the turn signal on AND point to my house/driveway. I don't care if it looks stupid as long as I don't get rear ended.
Glad to hear it wasn't worse - she easily could have clipped you. She was seconds away from her house and didn't need to rush to pass you to make it home. Hopefully it helps be more aware of motorcycles in the future. Live and learn.
I had a similar thing happen only I was turning left into my driveway. I used the turn signal and a hand signal and the lady passed me on the left. I was able to check up just enough to hit her in the side instead of being T-boned! I went down and she ran. I wasn't hurt but could have been killed. Lesson learned?? I now NEVER use a hand signal for left turns. When bring my hand back to the clutch after giving the signal may have looked like a wave-around. It's the only conclusion I could come up with. Happened 4 years ago and I still don't let my guard down turning into my drive. Took me about 3 years to stop looking at every White car's right rear quarter-panel for a stripe.
