'99 Roadking no spark
A friend aquired a '99 Roadking police bike from the owners ex wife. The bike has not run since last fall, it's still cold here so that's not unusual. My friend charged the battery fully and could not get the bike to fire. He mentioned he thought it might be the bank angle sensor, why I don't know.
'99 FLHRP
Fuel Injected
50,XXX miles
no alarm
What I have done is access and read the fault codes,
Front FI
Rear FI
Front Coil
Rear Coil
Crank Pos Sensor
I removed the coil which looks brand new, bench checked the primary and secondary ohms, it passed perfectly. Plug wires look very good, plugs are brand new H-D SE Gold, I even substituted another set out of the box.
I checked the center lead of the coil 3 wire connector while cranking the motor and got a low voltage signal, < 5V intermittently.
I checked the CrankPS at the connection terminal under the right frame side cover and it generated low (3-5) AC voltage when the motor was cranked.
Battery is strong, off/run switch working, all electrical accessories work but still no spark with the plugs removed and grounded.
Any ideas???
I have also checked the relay, which is fine, but replaced it with a new one anyway that controls the fuel injectors, coil and fuel gauge sender.
Power that comes out of the relay to the FI, Coil, and fuel sender is only present for less than second or two after turning on the ignition switch. After that the ECM wires that enter the relay, jumper the power to a dead end terminal, and I loose the 12+V to the coil, FI, and fuel sender.
Now I just get injector fault codes for both 23 front and 32 rear. I have unplugged the injector wire connectors, wiggled the wires looking for a break, put a load on the 12v side and it will power up fine for just a split second then no current. The coil fault code is gone, but the coil current is just for a split second as well.
Ideas?

Disassemble it and clean the contacts. Yes, it is made to disassemble easily. You could just change it out, but then you might have bought a new one for nothing. The contacts get dirty, and only send power intermittently on a burned contact. Worth a try, even if it turns out to not be the problem...
