Prodigal Son

Bike came stock with ABS & Cruise.
Lots of $ there alone... I think my decision is made. Instead of rebuilding (and re-spending) - perhaps I buy back this one and work on CAM and wheels...
But judging by the pic of your former scoot- it sure seems to be decked out with just about anything you might need or want.
I guess for me another factor would be the sentimental aspect- how attached to your former scoot were you? Kind of like being reunited with a lost family member- you know?
But if you don't have that kind of big love for your old flame- maybe it's time to start off "fresh"- jump into a new relationship!
Good luck in your decision.
If it is a steal, and you want YOUR bike back, buy it back. If it is just an OK deal, or average deal - I'd say pass, and keep your eyes pealed for a newer set-up.... But that's just me....

2009 -
Excellent Condition $17,325

I personally think those blue books are a little high, but whatever, you can see there is not even $1,200 difference.....

That's just my two cents.....
After a few days of consideration, I'm going to buy back my 2008 Street Glide (assuming the current owner makes me a reasonable offer). A few of you mentioned the sentimental value associated with the fact that I was the original owner of this bike, and not to get too wrapped up in that sentiment vs. buying another, possibly newer SG. While sentiment plays a bit of a role, I have to say the $000s that I put into the mods to make it more comfortable for my taller frame is what I'm mainly focused on.
The current owner emailed me on Wed of last week and advised me that, indeed, he has decided to sell it. Now we just need to determine a price. I sold it to him (quite loaded) for $17,000. It had 10,000 miles at the time. The bike is now 5 years old and has about 18,000 miles on it.
I'll update this post as things progress, but I have to say I'm very excited to get back into riding and especially a bike as sweet as my 2008 SG shown below...

If I look at KBB and NADA, he's about $500 lower than the retail price for a Bone-Stock 2008 Street Glide. Private party value on KBB and NADA seems a bit harder to assess - there is "Trade-in Value" and retail. There isn't really a private party value (please correct me if I'm wrong here).
That said, this bike is anything but bone stock. I think the retail value of the stuff below is somewhere between $6k-$7K. Aftermarket value? Maybe $2000-$3000 I'd guess (including labor).
So... It seems like a pretty good deal. Given all of the height modifications I made to this bike, I'm thinking I'm going to move on it.
That said: I'm always appreciative to opposing views (or those that confirm my thoughts...)
I can definitely find 2008s on Craigslist in the $14K range, but none are set up remotely close to the one shown below.
Here's the kick in the crotch: Minnesota will charge me sales tax (again) on this bike even though its a private party sale.

I underestimated how cool these lifts really are for cleaning and working on the cycle.

Nice to be back in the saddle! Now to do something about those ugly wheels..!

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
And, with the money saved verses a new bike this still plenty of funds a available to make future upgrade.
