They have all ridden 09's or better, be it a friends or a dealer test ride, and they are ALL chomping at the bit to get one with the new frame and the 6 speed tranny.

'08's have the six speed tranny. As far as the new frame goes in my view yes it is definitely an improvement but too many people act like it's all that and a bag of chips and it isn't. At least not IMO. YMMV.

Tonys right. Although the flex issue is gone my 09 wobbled at highway speeds while pulling power like a son of a bitch. UNTIL in installed a true track. Now she's perfect. So........enjoy that beautiful bike you got.

Since I went to touring, I've had an '03, '08, '10, & a '12. After selling my '03, I was excited when I got my '08. After all now I had a 96 c.i. with a 6 speed trans. I found it to be a lot more sluggish than my '03. The 5th gear whine was annoying and 6th gear was almost unusable due to the tall gearing. Also the compensator was doing it's thing when trying to start the bike.

When I sold that and got the '10 (and the '12), I found all the problems of the '08 were gone. Just an observation from someone that has had all 3 versions.
