Hi Guys
I may have a chance to pick up some used speakers economically and whilst they may not be the best, im wondrin if they will be ok, they are Harley boom audio speakers Part No: 77181-01 any ideas if these would fit the stock system on an 2011 FLHX and if they might be an improvement?
Cheers
R
They'll physically fit perfectly but I wouldn't do it. These are 8 ohm speakers and your head unit is designed to work with 2 ohm speakers. You'll effectively cut your total volume output by more than 1/2.
If you're wanting to replace stock speakers with something good and not real expensive, check out the Polk Audio MM651 speakers. Going to a 6.5" speaker will require a set of adapter rings from DragonFly or someone else but it's a drastic improvement over stock and well worth the cost.
I agree they are better than stock, I have them and running them with an amp right now. I am planning to replace mine in the next few months with 6.5 inch.
If I were doing to replace the stockers again, I would look at the 6.5 inch polks. I think they are db651s.
MM651s for stock replacement as they are 2 ohm. the DB651s are 4 ohm. you want to match components as closely as possible when doing audio setups.
