Hi Guys
I may have a chance to pick up some used speakers economically and whilst they may not be the best, im wondrin if they will be ok, they are Harley boom audio speakers Part No: 77181-01 any ideas if these would fit the stock system on an 2011 FLHX and if they might be an improvement?
Cheers
R
i just installed them a week ago along with a hidden antenna. i would recommend you wrap them in poly-fill from walmart or a craft store. i think this is a big help on the sound quality.
Make sure they are 2 ohm. The older bikes used a higher impedance speaker and it will not work with the hk radio. I asked the parts guy at the dealer and he couldn't tell me what the impedance was, so I bought hog tunes instead.
I agree they are better than stock, I have them and running them with an amp right now. I am planning to replace mine in the next few months with 6.5 inch.
If I were doing to replace the stockers again, I would look at the 6.5 inch polks. I think they are db651s.

Reason: size is 6.5 inch cost about 60.00
cheers fellas; I think I am going to swerve these, the description is;
Fits all '98-'05 FLHT and FLTR, FLHTC, FLHTCUTG. Stock on '01-'05 FLT, FLTR, FLHT, FLHTC, FLHTCUI models. (pair)'Each speaker has its own ferro-fluid-cooled tweeter and a two-way coaxial design for an improved range of sound.''Your stock sound system truly comes alive and can be heard like never before.''Upgrade both your front and rear speakers.'
so no going to take a chance. I will wait till I can afford something better.
Those are not the correct speakers! They will work,but not well. You need 2ohm speakers found on the later model bikes. I have the boom audio speaker without an amp and they are much better than the stock. However, I think I will eventually be investing in an amplifier and prob some rear speakers. I have also contemplated making a shroud for them as well.
