Take your time. Go to some bike nights & events, listen to some exhausts and ask the owners some questions. Exhaust systems are expensive, so you want the right one for you from the start and not end up buying several (ask me how I know!). I'm currently running a stock de catted head pipe with stock mufflers and am happy as hell!
look at supertrapp or harly?nightstick.they use a tunable disc system.they make the best power for a quiet setup, and u can change the sound by adding or subtracting discs or changing end caps to get the exact sound u want.nothing sucks more than spending bucks on exhaust and not liking the sound.
If ya are looking for quite power, changing the header will do more than slip-ons. An X pipe from Fuelmoto/full sac/V-H would be a good start. Supertrapp nightstick/Fat shots or SE nightsticks/Fatshotz are great choices for quite slip-ons.

Best advice above! Get rid of the cat converter, use the SuperTrapp or HD equivalent slip on to get the sound you want without betting too loud. To get real gains you will need to change the air intake, when you do that, you will need to re-tune the bike, which means the purchase of a tuner, possibly some dyno time (real expensive). Now that you've bought a Harley, the spending never ends!!!!!
What is the porpuse of the X pipe?
Is it to eliminate the catalytic converter?
I'm pretty lost. I just want to eliminate the cat converter if possible. Add a fuel management tool such as Power Commander, Add an Arlen Ness big sucker stage 1 & keep my original exhaust (Just eliminate the cat).
Any takers for my dumb questions? Links would b even better 😳

I'm thinking of just getting a de-catted stock headpipe, Stage 1 Air of some sort and FL-Vieds and keeping the stock mufflers.
