I used a fender trim that is made for the Road King Classics and put it on my Road King Custom on the bottom of the fender. Had to drill my own holes, but I think the look is cool so it was worth it to me. I had thought about adding the "Road King" to the sides but as of now decided not to. You can see the "bar and shield" fender tip in the picture below.
I put the stuff from the classic on my 04. It is the exact same fender even with the 08's.The front fender trim rear skirts all that are the same. you do have to drill the holes though.
