Bought my 2000 in 2010....already had Big Bore kit and SE heads...other than that, I wasn't sure about what had been done...I've put a stator on it about 6 months after buying but I found the reason it went out...someone had replaced it before and instead of removing the wires as instructed in the Service manual, they cut and spliced the wires...the wire grounded against the frame and smoked the stator.....Scoot had 36000 when I bought it, and last month when it was showing 52000, I decided to check the cam tensioners...Took the cam plate out and found that the cams were scored, the oil pump was scored inside and I had two lifters that were bad...decided to go with the gear drive S&S 570 ezstart cams and I've put about 900 miles on her since the change...much quieter,, and runs like a beast... all that just to say that I bought a scoot that was 10 years old because of the price, and it's paid for...and i wanted to be able to work on it .....sorry for the long rant.....

+1 for being able to work on it. I've watched the hassle some have gone through to get something fixed under warranty. Plus one I buy the needed tool I'm just adding to my tool box. Average shop labor is about 80-100$ an hour that is money I could spend elsewhere on the bike or just keep in my pocket.

I have a somewhat stripped down 00 flhtcui with 52k on it. I like this older model just for the fact I can accessorize this thing to meet my needs as a disabled rider cheaper than a newer one. I see where others have put newer motors in theirs but was wanting your thoughts since you have the big bore kit. Do you still have the 5spd tranny? Post a pic of ur ride if you still have it. Thanks
