Have done a lot of research and need some help. Just spent 1000 bucks on bars, cables a Sony dsx s210x and some other stuff. Just found out that my Sony pushes 4 ohms and my HD boom speakers(that I love) are 2 ohms. I am looking to install something simple with little or no mod. Can someone recommend a couple of easy options in ref to fairing speakers. Been looking a Pollk DB series at best buy for 90 bucks but don't know what size I need. Thanks for all the help. Looks like ill be selling these speakers as well as my stock HU. And I just put chrome rings on these speakers. Living and learning is expensive.

You will need to run 4 ohm speakers with the Sony HU. The DB series are 4 ohm while the MM series are 2 ohm.
The best (most economical & best sounding) thing you can do at this point is to replace the boom audio speakers with the Polk DB651's. These are a 6 1/2" marine grade speaker that can be purchased for around $60.00 or less on the Internet.
You'll also need a pair of 5 1/4" to 6 1/2" speaker adapters (Dragon Fly, Cycle Sounds, Arc Audio, etc.), also available on the Internet for around $40.00. Stay away from the "flat" adapters that can be bought for $15.00. You need the conical shaped ones (per brands mentioned) that will let the sound out.

Personally, I'd go one step higher with the Polk DXi650 speakers. They are 4ohm also and have slightly better numbers than the DB series. And this way if you want an amp later on you've got the speakers to handle a little more wattage. You can pick up the DXi speakers at Best Buy for $75.
Personally I'm not a fan of the boom speakers but many people are. And since you already have them instead of spending more money on more speakers, just get an amp the will do the trick for you. Take a look at this one: http://www.soundstream.com/html/amps-picasso-nano.html
or one of the other nano amps they have

I don't think that the DX series are Marine Certified, like the DB (and MM) series, which could lead to problems when parked in the rain or washing the bike.
if you're only doing 2 speakers in the fairing then as suggested above, I'd look at simply putting an amp in to drive the BA speakers you have. A good choice for a 2 channel amp is the RF PBR300x2 and is very easy to install with your head unit. When you add an amp into a system like this you then match your speakers to the amp and not worry about the head unit at all.

Check out the Audio Forum. There are known issues with using the Soundstream amps on our Harleys: Loss of radio reception and blowing speakers if using the amps in "bridged" mode.
I'm running the Soundstream PN4.520D on my Ultra and fortunately don't have a problem. I'll be installing an amp & speakers in my Street Glide this week and went with the Rockford Fosgate PBR300X2 (stay away from the PBR300X4). The 300X2 runs about $145.00.
The Boom Audio speakers are poor performers compared to the Polks. Adding an amp won't make them any better, IMHO.
