Shorter Antenna install

Does anyone know if the whip antenna that is stock on the '09+ SG and RG bikes comes off the mast? I got a shorter antenna I want to install, and need a mast for it. I don't want to effup my stock antenna trying to force the mast off if it isn't supposed to come off.

the antenna unscrews from the mount, there should be an allen head locking screw on there.
i use a $8 pepboys rubber stubby on my FLHTC

There is no locking screw on the antenna. I got the long antenna off the bike, but I cannot get it off the mount that attaches to the bike itself.
