My fiancé's dad has a 2002 road king and just installed new wheels on it. Now, when you roll the bike forward, the brakes are scrubbing but not when you roll the bike backwards. Also the front brake lever is very stiff. Any pressure at all will lock down the front end. Tried shaving the pads and the scrubbing stopped for about 20 miles and now it's doing it again. I'm puzzled. Any information or things to try to fix this is greatly appreciated.
I just had the same problem with my front calipers/brake lever. I had stuck pistons in both calipers.
Took them apart, cleaned them up, new seals, back together - no more problems.

Ageed this is the most likely problem. On older bikes, crud accumulates between the caliper pistons and their bores preventing the pistons from fully retracting. All you likely did by shaving pads was delay the process of the caliper pistons not retracting.
Rebuilding the pistons is a pretty simple job and ought to be done on a bike this age.
When the new wheel was installed did the spacers go back in the original location?? They are different thickness with the thicker one going on the left side. Sounds like this might be your issue! Don't ask me how I know this!!! lol!!
