If you have an oval head, like mine, it's a very nice fit, plus much less "mushroom" look.

Here are shots from the side/back:

I have a Daytona and it IS DOT approved and is definitely an entry into the mushroom world.

Mine is carbon fiber and after being about a year old developed a few cracks in the top coat, Daytona said not to worry about them and they are superficial...

I have the Vega XTS Naked and the Akoury 88. They are both nice comfortable helmets. The Akoury is definitely much lower profile and lighter and the quick disconnect chin strap can't be beat! However, as mentioned, the inside padding is thinner. That said, if you believe everything you read, its more the foam density than the thickness. Not going to get into that debate with anybody though. I like both but the Akoury is my favorite and the one I wear exclusively now. I have not found or seen a lower profile DOT and that includes comparing all the others mentioned here so far.

Hey, Rickr01, how did you find the sizing of the Canadian Akoury helmet, in relation to the sizing chart on their web-site; IOW, are the charts accurate? Also, I happen to fall between sizes (23" head); ought I go to the lower or higher size?

I like the Akoury helmet, too; but I wanted to "try before I buy", since I was replacing my only helmet. I'll definitely give the Akoury a go the next time that I'm in the market.

Thanks.

It was on the All for Bikers website. Go one size below what you normally wear. You are like me...Medium!

I just got the AK-88 today. My head measured 22.75 just above the eyebrows. I'd say the specs they give for sizing are right on. It fits great. I could probably also fit a thin bandanna under it, so for those with a 23" head, it would probably be good, but snug....thinking if you went large you would have to wear a bandanna under. Got it at hogshoppe.com. They are on Long Island. 2 days to get to me via mail in PA. They said if it didn't fit, I could exchange it. Cost was $119.99 to my door. Hope this helps.
