I use a pony tail hair band to keep the cord attached to the helmet.wrap around the cord and around the helmet unit, keeps the cord from popping loose and hiiting the tank..Hope that input helps down the road....
You won't damage the helmet forcing the clip in position. Key is ta have it rotated far enough forward ta ensure that the mike sits directly in front of yer lips. Someone else mentioned the tendency of the cord ta pop out an' chip the tank - he's absolutely right! Ah've tossed mah OEM an' have ordered a new J&M headset, which will also give me better audio quality...
Got a link for that headseat TexasRedneck? I didn't get the headset with my ultra so I'm starting out without one. I assume that the plug in on the tank is proprietary and will need to be an HD?
i'd also like a link please....kids got me a NADY helmet to helmet intercom....one speaker, miles of wires...pain in the *** and poor sound quality....i'd like a wireless one with two speakers, so's we aint gotta tangle just to talk...who makes one of those
I chucked out my HD headset and got one that doesn't attach tomy helmet. It's similar to a set of headphones used for portable radio/CD players. Check out www.imc-motorcom.com
HD models are HHS 10 for full face, HHS 30 for open face and HHS 40 for half helmets.
I have installed the headset in 3/4 and full and flip front. For your full face i'd recommend the J&M. They have a microphone that mounts inside the front lower chin and thus out of the way. I mounted this in my wife's helmet also. Pretty much all of the connections are on the left side now. On my full face i had to cut out some of the styrofoam to get the speakers to recess into the ear area. I used an exacto knive to cut it out, it's removable. I also used a 1" velcro piece on the back of the speaker, and it's partner piece in the helmet to hold it in place. When i moved the headset to a new helmet, i just replaced the piece in the helmet and reused the one onthe speaker.
