Default MCC Super Narrow Mod and Captain Itch

Got my seat back last week from having the Super Narrow mod done to my seat. Love the way it lowered me to give me a better footing. The only thing I don't like is how it now exposes the frame right by the tank. I ordered a Crotch Cooler from Captain Itch. It will cover the exposed frame back up, but it looks like it will rub the heck out of the side covers.

Does anybody have any other ideas on what to use to cover the frame up, or experience with the Crotch Cooler to give insight if it scratches the side cover? Thanks!

HD uses a clear film on the tops of the side covers on CVO models. You can buy them from HD.

Look at RJ's Originals "No More Fried Thighs", a sponsor. Mine cover those bolt heads and everything. Jeweled ones are extra sharp! Give Him a call...

Not to worry. We NEVER had a complaint, ever, that our crotch cooler scratched anybody's side covers. We put a soft suede layer on the bottom side of our crotch coolers. But if you want to be on the safe side, see where the crotch cooler touches the cover, and put a small piece of clear 3M tape at that spot. But as I said, it has never happened before. Larry (Captain Itch) has his crotch cooler on his Road King for nearly 50000 miles and you can't see anything. I have mine for 30000 on my Heritage, and I don't have any scratches either. But I do recommend that you take your plastic heat shields off before you install ours. The plastic shields prevent ours from laying flat again the frame, which also makes it a little shorter. So take them off, put the crotch cooler on, ride a couple hundred miles, and it will mold nicely where it needs to be. If you have any questions or concerns, just call us at 931-653-4117.

Isabel

The quality of the stitching looks good but I have to question why they didn't know it was going expose the frame like that, now what the hell are your supposed to do?

Never had a problem with my crotch cooler scratching the paint.

Thanks to all that responded. I will look into the tape covers, Carl. Just for piece of mind to avoid scuffs. Hopefully they can be removed if they ever need to be.

I did notice that the back of the Crotch Cooler is a softer material. Very well made. I haven't taken the time to install it yet, but it looks like a tight fit. Don't know about other bikes other than the Limited, but there are three cords on mine that go under the fuel tank trim that will make it a pain. I did plan on removing the stock heat shields but wanted to look at my options before I did.

The Kuryakyn mid frame chrome covers are they only other thing I can find to cover up the exposed area, but the reviews I have read of them on this site are hit and miss. Some say they look good, some say they are cheap looking. Would like to hear from anybody that had these currently on their ride.

He ask for the super narrow mod. It's not rocket science that if you narrow the seat it's probably going to expose something.

I had the super narrow mod done. I like the way it shows a bit of frame.

Wow! $140 and they are held on loosely by cable ties?

They look nice, but I don't know if I trust that.
