Default Audio Upgrade Help

I have a 2013 Road King and I have purchased the following:
Reckless Batwing Fairing with 2X 6.5 Speaker Housing,
HD Saddlebag lids color matched for Boom Audio, I was going to get the 6X9 setup through cycle sounds but here in Alaska the market is crazy for aftermarket paint. Only 2 shops near and charging 600 per lid to paint so I decided to go through HD and came out to 300 per painted and shipped. The only problem with that is the speaker fitment is 5X7 for the Boom Audio and I don't want to fork out 400 bucks for the kit and have poor quality sound. I'm not a real audio guru so I don't know if its possible to use and aftermarket conversion to be able to drop a 6X9 in the lid. I'm basically limited to Infinity 5X7 but they're not marine graded like Polk MM651's. What you think I should do?

I just finished my reckless fairing install on my 09 road king a couple weeks ago. For the fairing speakers I have four Polk Audio MM521 speakers and then a Rockford Fosgate PBR300x4 punch powering them and then a kenwood deck. This setup is fantastic! I just looked on amazon and they carry the polks in a 5x7. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001E5PN0M/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1367562995&sr=8-2&pi=SL75
I would recommend the four channel Rockford amp and then Polk MMspeakers for the fairing and then bags. They also have a cheaper line called the DB series in Polk that they also have in 6.5 and 5x7 on Amazon. Also all Polk audio car speakers will be marine no matter the series. Good luck on your install!

Personally, I wouldn't run the MM series speakers with the pbr300x4 amp. The amp is rated at 4 ohms and the speakers are 2.7 ohms. Your choice, but there is a good chance the amp will clip and overheat. The amp requires at least a 4 ohm speaker.

I just went through this ordeal and I'm a stero guy. First off you will not get 6x9 sound from 6x8 or 5x7 period. I had to do some cutting to install these on top instead of using the bottom dock. I have Rockford pbr300 amp pushing these bad boys and they sound great by far the best 6x8 on the market.

Are you using a 2 or 4 channel RF PBR with those 2 ohm Infinity's ??

The four channel amp isn't 2 ohm stable, so these speakers wouldn't be a good choice.

If you can use a 6X8, in the 5X7 hole ....these Pioneers will be the best bass that you will find !!!!!

Only problem is,...that RF 4 channel amp is only 75 watts. The Pioneer speakers like POWER. Perhaps a switch to the Sound Stream amp would better suit your needs.

That's what I'd do,..............but what do I know ???

4vr, I just put color matched Harley lids on my 07 SG, put 6x9 Biketronics HAT's (Hybrid Audio Technology). They "drop" right in! Actually are installed from the bottom of the lids in case Harleypingman is reading this post.lol Any way these IMHO are the best option for your lids. HAT's have won more car audio awards then all other brands combined since 2006! They are monsters! I am powering them with the S.S. Nano 520D. Talk to Bill at Biketronics you will be glad you did.

I read your post and pleased to read you're happy with your project. HATmakes excellent speakers.
