I have the +2 Sweepers on my 08. I couldnt stand the wheel barrow wrist position of the stock bars. These gave me the wrist angle I wanted. I have them pushed all the forward, so I am losing some of the pullback. I might bring them back a touch. In hind sight, I would have probably gone with the 2+2. But these are just fine too. So much more comfortable than the POS stock bars.
I'm wanting to change bars and like to see the outcome.
Also did you replace clutch cable? Does that require exhaust removal?
Thanks
Yes you need to pull the outter casing to the tranny to put a new cable in and you need to at least pull the header away to allow room for that. While you've got the cover off, make sure you locktite the two bolts at the bottom, they have been known to loosen then leak fluid out the bottom of the casing.
I installed +2's last weekend and am really happy. They did exactly what I wanted: Correct the painful wrist angle of the OEM bars and bring em closer to me. They are quiute a bit wider than stock and that was a bit of an adjustment.
I used all the stock cables. I decided to run the clutch wire outside the fairing like a Road King. I just didn't want to hassle with it. I may consider getting a longer one on my next fluid change. Although I'm not sure how I could angle the cable into the fairing hole. The new wrist angle of the bars will make it a pretty sharp turn to get into that hole. We'll see.
I used the fairing tilt method for the bar change and it was great. No radio removal and everything was open and accessible. The only issue I had was the heated grips. I re-used the stock FLHTK heated grips and they aren't working. I checked all my connections to the power connector and the one between them. I had a member suggest popping the throttle side to ensure proper connection from the TBW to the grip. I'll try to troubleshoot it this coming weekend. Would that right side TBW connection not being made make BOTH not work? The schematic shows the two heating elements being in series, so that would make sense.
Either way, I think these bars rock!! For me anyway!!
