Default '07 Cruise Control Lash Initialization

Well, after years of riding the Virago, and many years of wanting an ElectraGlide, I'm FINALLY getting an '07 FLHT. I bought a cruise control, and sent it to the seller, so when I go down Friday to pick up the bike, I can enjoy my 350 mile ride home with cruise. I have read the install instructions prior to sending the kit, and it says to perform the cable lash initialization according to the maintenance manual. I don't have a manual yet.

I've spent an ***-load of time searching the net for this procedure specifically for an '07, but haven't found it. Would anyone with an '07 manual be willing to post this for me? Thanx in advance!

Just search the Touring forum using the search term "cable lash initialization" and you will find several detailed instructions on the topic.

Frankly, I'm surprised you have'nt found them already. Are you certain you have all the necessary parts? FWIW, there is nothing unique about the procedure for an '07--Sam procedure for '04 through '07.

Good luck with your bike.

Carl

Copied from an old thread:

The engine should be at normal operating temperature and throttle and idle cables should be correctly adjusted. To set the correct cable lash proceed as follows:

1. Push the Cruise Switch on the right handlebar to RESUME and hold it.
2. Turn the Cruise ON/OFF switch to ON.
3. Turn the Ignition switch to IGNITION.
4. Start the engine. The green Cruise Enabled/Engaged lamp in the speedometer will illuminate.
Wait 3 Seconds for the lamp to go off.
5. Release the Cruise Switch from the RESUME position
6. Push the Cruise switch to RESUME and hold. Cruise will pull in cable until change in RPM is detected. The number of motor steps required to rev the engine is stored in memory.
7. After engine revs and Cruise Enabled/Engaged lamp is extginguished release the Cruise Switch from the RESUME position.
8 Turn the ignition switch to off.
