Thank You, John TN and HD Forums! Cruise Control Problem
Last week my cruise control quit working on my '02 UC. I havethe service and parts manuals but not the electrical manual. I used the schematics in the service manual to check connections and used my volt/ohm meter to check for continuity but I couldn't figure it out. I also retrieved the self-diagnostic codesfrom the system but that didn't help. The problem is the throttle roll-off switch, which I never use. I figured this out by reading and following the instructions John TN posted on 5-20-06. Without his post I probably would've thrown money at a new cruise module I didn't need. In this case I have my cruise control working again and it didn't cost me a dime since I won't replace the switch, at least in the near future. Maybe one day I'll invest in an electrical manual.

I pasted John's info below to try andsomeone else in the future.
Thanks again, John. [sm=deal.gif]
John's 5-20-06 post regarding cruise control:
Same problem with mine, had trouble with it last year, work some then not work, if it's the cable roll off switch easy check. At the neck just in front of the gas tank is where the cable switch is under the rubber boot. Disconnect the two wires from the switch, tape them serparely and see if the cruise works o-k. I'm still not using the roll of switch, they just tear up to damn easy, screw it. If it's not the throttle roll off switch then you will need a service manual to perform the other cruise control system checks.
Also this is good info if you're on a long trip and the TRO switch goes out you can disconnect and still have the cruise if it's a bad switch. Your brakes and clutch lever when pulled will still kick the cruise off just like a car, you just won't have the throttle roll off, which really to me really isn't neccessary IMO, I'd rather see a non engine start switch on the clutch and kickstand instead of the roll off.
