he may get temporary relief by swapping the heel and toe shifters on the shaft...that way you get 1 set of "sharp" teeth against a set of "dull" teeth, rather than 2 dulls.

anything that can be done to minimize slop will help- incl wrapping a teflon tape in there.

try that first.

Why would they make the shifter out of a harder material than the shaft? You might be able to drill and tap the shifter to accept a set screw, then mark the location with the set screw and grind a small flat on the shaft.

Replace shaft and shift lever so the old lever doesn't screw up the new shaft...don't ask me how I know.

On another noote, use heel eliminator then use heel lever for toe shifter.

last year a friend of mine brought his "08 Ultra classic over for me to take a look at his heel shifter that fell off. The screw that pinches the lever together, looked like it was loose and had the threads flattened on one side. He Bought a new screw and I put a dab of blue lock-tight on it to keep it from happening again. Been about a year and it hasn't loosened up. Should have been done at the factory.,,

Yeah, that and be sure to use blue loctite. Also when removing the screws they must come out completely.
