As I wait for my new inner fairing to come in and get painted I decided my dash needed to be cleaned up.
First had to decide what I could live without so windshield bag is gone and power vision mount is gone. I can live with out them but phone mount couldnt go. I like how I had it mounted but not wanting to drill holes in new fairing I used what I had to make a new mount.
I took the winshield bag apart and cut done the metal bracket. I cut the ball mount for my cradle off the suction cup mount and bolted it to the windshield bad bracket.
I think it turned out ok and wont have to drill any holes. Will be on the look out for better options but this will be good till then.
me likey, how secure is the phone in that motorola cradle? I like the DIY that looks good jusr curious about the cradle now, what phone is that for as well, it looks powered also...
This one is for a Motorola Atrix HD but Motorola makes one for most all their Droid phones.
This one came with my phone on a special but bought the last one for my old phone off amazon. Its just listed as a car dock.. It is powered also so keeps the phone charged, I just mounted a cig plug on top of the radio under the fairing.
The cradle is very secure I have never had a problem and this is the 2nd Motorola phone I did this way. It was really the main reason I went with Motorola again when I got a new phone.
very helpful thanks much chief! like how you mounted it now better I think it will work better right under the lip of the windscreen should also give it some shade/water protection as well.
