I have a new Road Glide ultra, and my fav, the 2002 Road King, which is the one that needs the most attention. She is older packing about 50000 miles and is my solo ride. The toolbox will be hers

I just finished the 1,000 mile service on my Ultra and found out that the bike is a mix of SAE, metric and Torx. It seems to have more fastener standards than a 1960's Triumph; well, not quite.
The only metric bolts I know of on the bikes are the banjo bolts and the brake caliper mounting bolts. 12 and 10mm, respectively.
There are a variety though of Torx and Internal hex heads (Allen) as well as plain old bolts. Best to just have a good variety of tools too, I suppose.

A 2002 RK is hardly old. Preventive maintenance and thorough inspections during washes will be the best tool available, for any bike. On the road, just the basics shown above should get you home, or at least an area with cell service.
Don't forget zip ties too. Like duct tape, zip ties can solve many problems!
