Been looking for a slightly shorter windshield for my '08 Road King Classic and settled on the Klock Werks short and clear which is 16" (actually 16 3/8") compared to the 20" factory billboard.
Installed it this morning and went out for about three hours...I can say that I made the right choice as I can see clearly over the windshield (my main objective) and the wind is deflected enough over my head. This windshield is also approximately two inches wider on each side as well. From the side, is has a sexy curve to it that really compliments the bike. I chose the clear over the light tint since my bike has a lot of chrome and I think fits it better than the tinted.
No pictures yet, but here's a photo of the bike anyway...
Been doing a lot of looking at the billboard for longer rides. I never ride with my stock one on, and today I did. Some things that I noticed is the buffeting of my glasses, drives me nuts. But not being beat up by the wind from the nose down was pretty nice. It was doing weird things to my collar though. And I could hear my radio really well, which was really nice.
Had my brother measure me for the height I should be using, and according to him it should be humongous, like +4 on the stock one. But with the curve it should make it better correct?
Anyways, I was wondering how tall you are. I have the Tall Boy seat and I'm 6'. I'm still not crazy about using a windshield since I have apes, but it would make the ride to work a lot nicer. So I was thinking of going with the shorter 16", but after today I'm wondering if the 18" would be better for me.
Good looking bike man.
Thanks for the compliment on the bike...I'm 5'10" and am using the stock Road King seat. I found my line of sight to be right at the top edge of the windshield, so I had to look slightly above or slightly below...now the line of sight is perfect. I like using the billboard on the RK. I can hear better and it looks good (to me anyway and especially the KW) on the bike. I also own an '09 Fat Bob with no windshield, so if I want all that wind in my face and noise, I'll ride that. The RK is so much more fun to ride in a lot of ways.
The other size that Klock Werks makes is (I believe) a 19" model, but you should call and verify because I don't think it's 19"...I believe it's slightly taller. I called to verify my 16" before I bought it. I bought it through Amazon.com by the way.

The Tall KW shield is 19-3/8". This is the shield that I have. My cop seat puts me about 3.4" taller than a Civilian RK, so I needed the extra height. It replaced the 22" cop billboard that was on the bike. I am very happy with this shield.
I have the taller Klockwerks and have nothing but praise for the windshield. It looks great (as great as a screen can) the wind is pushed over my head but again the buffeting issue is the wind coming UNDER the gas tank with a windshield on. The only fix is the fork deflector which Harley just came out with a new design that looks far better than the old. Here is a few pictures with the deflectors and the soft lower which help more and are great for long trips and cold days
Sorry I kind of took over your thread racertb. Thanks for all the info guys. Still kind of perplexed. Mainly I was, and still am, hoping the shorter one was the would that would work best for me. I don't really want to have to go with that bigger one.

I actually had the shorter one first. I think that it would be perfect for a RK with a standard touring style frame-mounted seat and with a rider of my approximate height (5'-10"). But with my cop seat that sits 3.4" taller than a standard RK Classic, it just put too much of my head in the wind and I got a lot of buffetting over 50 mph. I needed the taller shield for my seat. For reference, the top edge of my 22" tall cop billboard shield is right dead center in my line of vision - same height as my eyes and very distracting. The 19-3/8" KlockWerks shield is perfect for my setup. Unless you are 6'-4" tall, I bet that the short KW shield will be fine for you if you have a standard touring seat.
Good luck. I bought 3 shields (11", 16 KW, 19-3/8" KW) before I found the one that I was happy with.
Thanks LeadSSlead. Well I am 6', with a Tall Boy seat. So the stock Harley shield is just below my line of sight, and it's almost 20". Still think the shorter would work? I just hate to spend that much and not be able to use it. Or does someone exchange them? Again sorry racertb, it's just hard finding a lot of good info on these. Thanks guys!
