I wear tennis shoes when I ride to Sturgis because there's a lot of walking around and my dogs are important. Now I got bags I can keep them in there and wear a boot while riding and change.
Hey thanks for the headsup. My buddy gave me a bs story.

Thats exactly why the companies that make things put caution and warning statements in the literature included with products, because someone has done something stupid. Case in point, in the owners manual for cars/trucks, keep hands clear of fan while engine is running, what did some dumbass do, put his hands in the fan with the engine runnin, do not open radiator cap while engine is hot, someone opened it while it was hot and under pressure lol. What does MSF teach us, ride with over the ankle leather boots, case in point, refer to pic in post 1. People do it all the time. When I went through the Army MSF course in Hawaii in 99, they showed us pictures of accident aftermath of people not wearing helments, one person had his helment locked to the back of his bike, what good is it doing back there? To each his/her own I guess. I know I want all the protection I can get between me and the ground, nothing there but air.

I think there are smart people, then there are some with experience, and then the rest. People can preach all they want about rights and freedoms and all that. They have their point and it has value. I was lucky and now I am one of the experienced ones. I was wearing full gear, well except I had heavy jeans instead of leather lowers but, when I got caught with my pant down by a cager. I went down hard. I swear that my head was held off the ground but my helmet had a 6" crack none the less. My leather jacket was rubbed through at the elbows and boots were scuffed really bad and my jeans were shredded at the hip and knee. I was lucky - I came out with just some bruises and road rash.

I do not claim to be a rocket scientist but I do have experience. Know what I mean???!!! Just sayin.

I don't really care what everyone else wears, but yeah I don't swing a leg over the bike without putting on full protective gear. When I see the shorts and flip-flops, all I can think is that guy has obviously never gone down...

I only wear military boots style boots when I ride. For the last two years it was a pair of Blackhawk Warrior boots. They are basically a tennis boot because your throw them on and they are comfy.

Now I am wearing Danner. A month in and they are broken in.

I admit I don't wear leather on the legs and that is due to not finding a good pair yet. Maybe I should bite the bullet and get some Fox Creek...

Yikes, I always wear jeans and boots when "riding", but I have jumped on in shoes and cargos for a quick run to a store. After reading this I may think twice. never heard the ABC reference, lol.

People are going to wear and do what ever in the hell they want to. That's all I have to say about that.
