Default Proper Footwear

I am always amazed when I see people wearing tennis shoes or flip flops rather than the proper footwear when riding a motorcycle. The results of improper riding gear can have life changing results as this picture demonstrates.

Around here I see a lot of, no shirt, shorts, and flip flops with a full faced helmet. It's generally the crotch rocket riders that do this. Safety first you know.

GOOG GRIEF! That picture is gross! If I didn't know better, I'd say it was faked.

I'll never wear flip flops riding. It's bad enough walking in the wet yard with them. My feet always slide out of them. In fact, I recently bought some heavy boots that I use just for riding. Shorts are a no-no too.

So do you also wear a full face helmet, and leather gloves, leather/protective jacket and leather pants when you ride? Because that is the only way you prevent that pic from being a pic of any other part of the body as well. I don't disagree, but ya can't just single out footwear. I rarely see anyone in FULL protective gear and when I have it was a sportbike rider that looked like he just got off the race track in all his leathers.

The picture was sent to me by a buddy I ride with. I do not have the history other than to say, my buddy said it was of a Harley rider who was wearing tennis shoes who had gone down pinning his foot under the bike as it scraped along the asphalt. It sure makes having go leather booths a good idea.

That first picture was from a few weeks ago when Bear Grylls' producer was bitten by a Fer-de-Lance snake http://www.businessinsider.com/steve...-photos-2013-5. That's like when we get safety briefings in the military they show pictures of what a .22 can do if you accidentally shoot yourself when it's actually a picture of someone that got a leg blown off from an IED.

I wear tennis shoes when I ride to Sturgis because there's a lot of walking around and my dogs are important. Now I got bags I can keep them in there and wear a boot while riding and change.

I usually wear shorts for short trips but last year coming across the interstate after leaving Sturgis I got a bee or something up my shorts and stung me right on the ABC (***-ball connector)...hurt like a bitch and I had the wife on the back and going 80 mph so I couldn't lose focus.

If that picture doesn't convince you that riding without proper FOOTWEAR can have consequences then I miss your point. That is what the picture is about.....wearing the proper footwear. It is not about arguing the point.
