I have my 107 build done and need to change the clutch spring. That being said do I have to remove the primary cover or does it fit through the inspection hole? I know I have read somewhere on here that it might fit through the inspection hole but can't find the thread. Thanks for your help.
Some guys on here say you can tweek the spring to fit through the inspection hole. But I tried when I did mine and I don't see how you can do that without screwing up the clutch spring. I pulled off the outer primary when I did mine.
It's not that much work to pull the outer primary cover off and while you have it off you can look at your tensioner and see how tight it is.
I'm fully capable of doing the job. I was just asking to see if it would fit through the inspection cover or if I need to buy a primary gasket. I have a limited amount of time and was looking for the easy way out. Will pull the primary cover, thanks.

Yes you can do it thru the inspection cover, I always love when people respond that haven't done what is asked. It takes a little force but doesn't hurt the spring, that's why they call it that.

installed an SE clutch spring. It will not fit through 2010 SG. Stock spring may flex enough, but then that was not the plan. why not pull the outer cover and inspect inside? Bought a new gasket but have not used it yet, old one reused for spring and then SE comp, your choice if you need to replace
The definitive answer is: either it will or it won't, you'll just have to try it and see. My '06 wouldn't fit but a bud's '07 did.
No need for a new outer primary gasket if you have some RTV (I use clear). Clean the used gasket, inner primary and outer primary with some lacquer thinner. It needs to be clean and dry. Then put on the thinnest layer of RTV that you can.
I put a layer on the inner primary, put the gasket on and put another layer on the gasket before I install the outer. No leaks and I've re-used the gasket several times.
Same thing with the derby gasket if it isn't damaged.
