8 ball, i sent the stock pan, after thinking about it. the stock seat wasn't all that comfortable so i said what the heck. i could have sent the mustang, but i think it is better than the stock and i am using it now. i think you can ask about moving back an inch or two and they can accomidate that....but don't quote me. its gonna be fugly, but i got the works...leather, heat, and recovered my backrest and passenger tourpac backrest....and it wasn't cheap either. this better work....i'll enter with an open mind. i haven't heard any bad comments about the day-long except they aint cute. i can live with that.
Viiiball-
Shoot me an email bcates@saddlemen.com with the specifics on what you'd like and we can sort the details and if we do not offer a production seat that fits your needs we can always do a custom version of one of production seats that is more suited to your specific needs.
When it comes to after market seats there are a few very important variables to keep in mind. First and most important in my oppinion is the density of the foam and the type of covering thats used. Second is the ergonomics of the seat ( lumbar support , width at the nose ). These things are what the real differences are. I say do your homework and dont be afraid to call and ask questions . One reason I dig working in this industry is that I can help guys get the right seat on their bike.
Hey Buster
Brian here, Yes your seat was the most comfortable, no complaints, but I need the seat to work with the passenger grab rails.
Out of curiosity??? have you tried the Sundowner??? they have them on the demo program at the dealers now...It's one of the best seat for a lot of people.
I had one on my Roadstar. Excellent seat for a guy with a big ***. Don't know how it would work on a small one. Hartco was very easy to deal with on the order process and even made custom mods for passenger pillion to be higher than stock for the wife. That was in 2004 so I don't know if things have changed since then.
I've easily got 250,000 miles on Corbin seats. I've been frustrated with their custom service the last couple of years, but their seats have really treated me great. I've ridden for 15-17 hours straight and never had any butt burn, but I'm not exposed to the boney **** you described. I've got a little meat, but Corbin seats have really performed superb for me. If you haven't tried one, you might want to give them a try. You can pick one up used on EBay, and if you don't like it you can turn it around for the same $$. But it might just solve your issues. They're firm, but bear in mind they provide support for long distance riding. BTW, it's imperative that you have a back rest to help relieve the stress of long days in the saddle. I'm not an iron butt rider, but I remember a couple a years ago when I rode from Rapid City, SD to my house in one day. Right on 739 miles.

Had 2 Corbins, not on this bike, my poor butt never did break in....
7 seats so far on this bike.
I've gone ahead and ordered a custom Hartco. Mark is going to put more foam in the front of the seat to give me more support for my hamstrings. All seats up to now, those hamstrings are up in the air resulting in all weight being on my behind. He is also going to move me back some as well as the passenger seat, (Mrs. is 6'1")
I'll let you guys know in a month what I think as that is the build time
thanks for all the suggestions
