I have been looking at the Daymaker light that HD has on the market. Other than the price it does looks like a good investment. I looked on their web site only to find that they will only fit Ultra's from 2009 and newer. I have a 2007 Ultra Classic. I talked to the parts guy today and it looks like the only diferrence in the two light setups is the attatchment ring. But one comes with the light. Typical HD wisdom they will not tell me why it will not fit on the 2007.
1) Does anyone know if this will fit or not. If not what is different.
2) If not what would pepole suggest for a good LED headlight.
Thanks
I read this but unless I missed it there was nothing about fitting on a 07 vrs 09 and newer. I know the JW Speaker/HD has a 8700 and an 8703. It looks like the 8703 has the same ring that the one at the HD store had in its box. Is there an article somewhere that tells me what fits on what bike or does it make a difference. What is the difference between the speaker 8700 and 8703. And before anyone answers the question I know its more that 3 ;-))
thanks
These parts all match the size and shape of every out of the box 7" round headlight ever made so I see no issue with the year. I think the passing lamps may need a connection adapter for older apps but it's readily available.
Fits ’12-later DynaŽ FLD, ’94-later Touring and Trike models (except Road GlideŽ), and ’94-later FL SoftailŽ models equipped with the Headlamp Nacelle Kit. Kit includes mounting ring assembly. Gloss black lamp includes black bezel. Touring Black Headlamp Trim Ring P/N 46555-03A is available separately. ’06-’10 FLHTCUSE models require Harness P/N 71628-04 for installation.
The Harley web site is where I got my info. They are trying to sell a bunch of these so they put a app on their site that you put in your model and year and they will tell you what it fit. I tried both the year 07 and 08 and it said sorry. Starting with 09 and above it said it would fit. The new parts cat also states it will not fit the 07 as well as the label on the box itself. My thinking is the same as yours 7" should fit in a 7" slot. I do know for a fact they did change the ring in 09....I have the part numbers for both the 07 and 09 and they are different. ie thats the reason I posted my question.
Just looked again the 2007 and 2008 years only list 2 CVO models. It is intersting the 2006 lists

They may have not listed it right on the web site but that does not explain the parts Cat I'm looking at.
Thanks for the help
The new web site is wrong in so many ways it unbelievable! The previous site was much better and had a section where you could download a PDF of the accessory catalog. The ability to get the install instruction for accessories also seems to be gone. It previously showed as fitting my 08 and now does not. But never fear it will fit 94 and later Touring bikes with a 7" headlamp.
