Default thunder header pipes?

Hi all, Ive been getting the estimates to have my motor worked to a 95inch fire breather and have setteled on having it done at Quaid HD. My questino is about the pipes,I really wanted the rineharts but have been told by all 3 dealers that Ive been to, that they will actually cause me to lose power. They said if I build a hot motor that Ill be flushing it all down the drain by losing about 8 hp with the rineharts? All the dealers I spoke to recommend a 2 into1 system by thunder headers or V&H. I dont like the look of them on a bagger but if this is true I will have to go with them. Has anyone on here had any experience with either one of these set ups? The rineharts look sweet so its a hard choice, also they are tryin to sell me a set up with a dummy left side pipe but dont want that at all. Think Ill go with these thunder headers if this is true. Thanks in advance.

Default RE: thunder header pipes?

I have a thunder header on mine and it doenst look all that bad. the performance is preety good, the only issue is i have had 2 bafels break loose. I welded the last one back in and have not had a problem since. I have a 120 ci with 121 hp. I have been told that the thunder header doesnt help much if you are making more then 10 HP. Infact when the last dyno was done the operator stated if you were to put some basinis or other 2 into to pipes i could get you another 15 hp.

The thunder header helps make torque on the bottom end and if you are already making torque the you need something for the high RPM.

At some point in the future i will change to soemthing else but for now it pulls the wheeil in two gears adn if i am not carefull it breaks loose real easy.

I think that HD get a bigger profit on the Thunder header or they know that it helps increase the low end torque for the motors with stage one kits.

Don't know about the 2 into 1 with the thunderheaders but I just put on the thunderheader slip ons and love them. The sound is great, my GF says they're too loud, so I know I'm doing something right,,, lol,,, I haven't had it dyno tuned yet either,, but that's this week, I just put them on and went,,, pickup in second gear seems a little better than before but that could just be my imagination,,, The thunderheader were recommended by the Harley mechanic that does the engine work on my bikes,,, I trust his judgement and he's not let me down yet,,,
