Anyone found what they consider to be a good touring first aid kit. I've seen the kits at Walgreens, Walmart and REI but they seem to be more auto, camping or home oriented. Anybody seen a good one for bikes thats not too big and got the essentials beside the usual sunscreen, bandaids, bee stings and pain meds? Seems bike kit should have some items related to someone going down for treatment until person can get EMT/Paramedic treatment.
My kit doesn't have one, but I've seen those kits that have a "Tooth-saver" kit in them. It's a special kit that allows you to put a knocked out tooth in it and it will preserve the tooth for some period of time, presumably long enough for it to be re-inserted by a Doc or Dentist.
I don't like to think about things like this too long though. Only makes for unpleasant mind images.
Go to Accident Scene Management website. They offer several kits with detailed info on each for motorcycles. They also offer classes; our HOG chapter requires road captains to take the class or a certified first aid course. We also ppurchased kits for each rc from ASM.
Havent needed them, but good to have on the bike.
Made my own kit, Visine, asprin, bee sting ointment, bandaids. I put it all in an old zip up camera case. Can't count the times I've used the visine to wash out sand!!!
Being an EMT myself, I felt it necessary to carry a first aid kit, and a bit more on my rides, especially group rides. I found this website to be great!
This would be a great first aid kit, all sealed up, so u only use it at an emergency:
Being an EMT I wanted something that I could further use on a continuous basis and re-stock as necessary, so in addition to the above kit, I carry both of these:
My wife bought me a first aid kit and a 12 volt air pump for fathers day from the dealer.
I don't know what was in her head when she picked those two gifts out but I actually liked them.
