If you can find them at a medical supply, a Sam Splint and an old fashion trauma dressing. Then go to the red cross or local fire house and learn how to use them.

On short trips, I carry an off the shelf first aid kit with a few extras in it (trauma shears, sam splint, and ace bandage).

For the longer rides, I have a USMC Combat Life Saver bag strapped to the back. Never needed it, but good to know that it is there.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out the new sites. My daughter is a new EMT but have not had the chance to discuss with her or the RN next door to us. Not sure they have much emergency medical experience yet. Probably military medic experience would be great. I have some friends recently out of 101st that have some medical background so will check with them too.

Not trying to be a dick, but it doesn't matter what your friends have been taught. What you carry needs to be driven by what you, personally, are trained to use.

I'm a retired paramedic. Spent a lot of time on the streets. I carry supplies and equipment appropriate to my level of training and certification.

I know a couple neurosurgeons. I don't carry a burr hole tray based on that acquaintance.
