Sometimes I crank it up right before I kill it and it thinks 0 is at 4000 rpms.

Uh...wait, that is not how it works.

I forget I have a kill switch until an occasional thread like this pops up.

I use the kill switch for riding in stealth mode. Work late and come home, crank it up when entering neighborhood(who knows who they are this far away from the house?) and then coast 'er in from a couple blocks away. Other than that, it always the ignition switch for me. Seen too many shut it off with the kill, and then proceed to run their mouth long enough to forget the switch is on. Next thing you know, they get off the bike, do whatever it is they came to do, then get on a bike with a dead battery.

You can always tell someone who uses the "kill" switch to stop the engine. Their headlight is on draining the battery;-)

My first bikes didn't have a kill switch. First time I saw one it was, "WTF?" Was told that was emergency shut off if I was fixing to dump it. That was my hell raising dirt biking days, so it got used many times. Don't think I've ever used it on a street bike.

For me, I like to keep my hands on the handlebars untill I get off my bike. I feel secure that way. No, wait...I stand corrected... I do sometimes take my hand off the bar to wave.
Reminds me...I must start a waving thread
