That, and a putty knife.

I did mine today. Nothing that hasn't been said already. New 3/16" bit, take your time, follow the instructions. Two hours tops from start to finish including a quick wipe down for fingerprints. Can be done by yourself but an assistant would be helpful. No one mentioned a small shop vac to remove the metal shavings but a necessary evil.

Far better looking that the originals. Why does HD cheap out on little things like this? Especially something so easily visible.

I did hinges and latches on my 2013 CVO Ultra. Bout an hour for the hinges but the latches were a different story. Took me about two hours but if I did it again it would only be about an hour. The rear lid catch is a real pain in the butt. But they sure look purty when it is done. The kit has a drill jig but it only gets you close for drilling the new holes. I had to enlarge the top holes to get it to fit flush. All worth it in the end.

Did it al by myself....by as has been said....an extra pair of hands to hold the lid for re-install may be nice. Can be done alone though.

Do not simply remove the rivets and install the screws. The screws need a slightly larger hole. Use the correct drill bit per the instructions. I've heard of owners cracking their lids by installing the screws into the smaller rivet holes.

So I gotta ask, Is this truly just a cosmetic thing, or is there another benefit? They look really nice!

Probably just cosmetic. But it looks so much better I would think the MOCO would make them original equipment because they make the old ones look so cheap and bad!

I made one little boo boo, slipped, but it was on the inside and nobody will ever see it unless they are replacing the hinges.
