Timesert. That is the only permanent fix. You only get one chance to do it right, so make sure you have capable hands doing the job. If you screw it up, you get to remove the head...

Either of these are the way to go and ( generally ) are easier for a novice to use.

I've used helicoils a lot and never had a problem. You usually can get them locally. Pretty simple install. Probally stronger than the threads that were in it.

I assume your talking about the hole for a breather bolt? To late now but do yourself a favor and get the service manual and a decent torque wrench to avoid future headaches....

i do use a torque wrench for everything , but since i didnt read the instructions on putting on my stag 1 air filter kit .the bollt went in very little i was suppose to remove the module bracket ,which i didnt . so it strip out easy , but when i fineally read them and removed it ,i had plenty of threads left to torque it down ,and by not removing that bracket i crack the first plate . lol becacuse it would not fit flush ,.

The only people who don't make mistakes...

aren't doing anything. This is just a happy little learning procedure. After many of these, and ONLY after MANY, you can call yourself a true mechanic. But, you will continue adding to the list!
