I took the factory ones off my ultra and installed the captain Itch leather one. It works much better at keeping the heat off your leg. the factory ones push the air back topward the front of the motor and puts it right on you. the itch one lets the air out below it and you dont feel near as much heat. did more for cooling than all the tuning i paid alot more for.
Thanks for the input thusly received. I especially appreciate the words from those of you who have used both types and were able to give me a comparative view of them.
jjnoble, if you happen to have a picture of your custom sized extra large cooler, I'd sure be interested in seeing it.
I don't have the extended one on yet. I'll see if I can get off my lazy butt and put it on then take a picture for you.
Anybody got pics of the crotch cooler or JRS originals on a Street Glide. I never needed a heat deflector before but I need them now after installing vented lowers. Thanks and sorry for the mini hijack. Lol

Just got back from a trip, a little late but here are the pictures, let's see if they load up.
Nope, they did not load correctly, I'll work on that.
Lot of threads on this lately. Just removed Kury smoked plastic and replaced with Crotch Coolers. First the installation is so easy a caveman could do it. No lifting the tank and cutting tie wraps to move wireways. Second and most importantly, I don't have any of the heat that came up between the tank and plastic ones. The leather has formed nicely and I personally think they look better. Consider this, cows (leather) hang out in the heat all day. They must know something.
My CrotchCooler should be in on Monday, anything to keep the heat below sounds good to me. (Yes, they do look better than the other varieties and they should never "break" like the plastic types and would imagine they are cooler after the sun beats down on them for when it's time to mount up...)
I just put the Kuryakn smoked with chrome finish on a couple of weeks ago. So far they are working but when stopped my thighs touch them as they stick out more than the Harley ones. If the finish starts wearing I may go to the Capt Itch or JRS.
