My 2004 RKC died while i was riding this weekend. I was doing about 35 and everything shut off and she stalled out. When I turn on bike i can hear the fuel pump and when i press the start button she tries but won't turn over. I checked every fuse and spark plugs and error codes and nothing . Had her all stripped down and gave up about an hour ago. Before I rent the trailer and bring her to my local HD dealer anyone have the magic answer ?
I had it on a charger for awhile and sounds real strong when i try to start it . If the battery was bad would it turn off everything while i was still riding ?
a fully charged battery with know good cable connections is step 1.
( charged with a charger not a "tender", load test the battery for free at autozone)
until you do that- any other tests will not be relevant.
could be a number of things from battery to cables, to a wire, to a switch, breaker etc etc.
New Battery and cables checked and still cranking and not turning over.Seems like a fuel problem to me . Stealership just informed me they have a 3 week wait .....outstanding
Check the spark at the plug? Pull it and look at it, wet with gas? Does it spark when cranked and grounded? Can you smell gas from the cylinder? Check a fuel line at the tank or line, flowing?
You need spark, fuel and compression as a rule. You are missing one...
