Injector cleaner needed?

Check the fuel filter then. If you've got gunk in the tank it should catch it and may cause sporadic fuel flow.

If you just add gas to the tank and the problem goes away, you might have a hole in the pickup line inside the tank.,,

Rode her again over this weekend with cleaner added, and she is no better. I have a better description of the problem though.

Flat spot has gone, that may have been sorted by the cleaner, but when I pull in the clutch or idle her once she has warmed up it sounds like the engine is either revving or slowing rhythmically. I have seen this with my car before and it was the IAC valve that needed cleaning. I think that might be my next port of call.

Try using Chevron Tecron fuel injector cleaner and use twice the amount it recommended worked great on my old Ford Bronco couple tanks will make a big difference unless there is an another issue.

The IAC is a good place to start & is probally the problem

This is a good product to clean your injection system but I won't use twice the called for amount.
