Question on Engine Idle Temperature Mgmt. System
Love it and Very excited. So on to my question: I live in NY Queens to be exact and at times it is warm, real warm lol.So do I keep EITMS on or off? What do you guys think? Please let me know. Does it hurt the engine by leaving it active all the time?
it's great technology..the turn off the fuel and spark to the rear cylinder and pump cool air through it...
that cool air carries heat out from the hottest parts of the motor to the atmosphere.
it is only activated when there is:
no throttle input
speed below 1 mph ( so stopped)
and either clutch pulled in or neutral selected
I often activate mine manually by rolling the throttle forward and holding it there
it's kinda hot where I live

what? usually, when i read your posts, i take your advice/opinion pretty seriously, but this time you missed the mark.
first, you cannot 'activate' it manually. you can enable/disable it, but unless certain conditions exist, you can not force it into eitms mode. now those conditions are:
engine temperature greater than 287*
twist grip at idle position
veh speed under 1 mph
engine speed under 1200 rpm
to kick it out of eitms mode, all you have to do is change any one of those variables
to the op: no it will not hurt your engine to leave it enabled. now if you want to leave it 'active' by sitting there idling for hour upon hour, then you might have problems....
OP, no, it will not hurt a thing to leave EITMS enabled all the time. I never disable mine but it never comes into play anymore, even in stop and go traffic on the hottest Ga. days. This is thanks to Jason's FCS fans. These things work great! They lower my oil temp 30 degrees. Jason is a great guy and stands behind his products unconditionally!
