Default rotor warp

Have had some issues with rear brakes of late in previous posts, thanks by the way for the responses. While I was installing speed bleeders I threw my dial indicator on the front rotors and they were a little beyond the max runout.
Less than a year ago I put new ones on the front (torqued to spec) due to an indy shop screw up not putting the ABS bearing in for the front wheel which threw off the alignment and warped the first set. Now the new ones are warped to the point the vibrate when front brake applied - probably at over 40 mph or so and I don't know what would have caused it.
I have had grabbed a handful a few times in traffic but I wouldn't have thought the rotors were a "one use" item (joke attempt). Looking at new ones the HD are close to the cheapest and I am wondering why. This is looking at one piece rotors. Someone posted to me recently that one piece rotors have the least ability for heat management but damn, 6 - 7 K miles?? Might it the type of material makes a difference? Anyone else have rotor warp problems?

Default Warpage!

Yea, I got some on my '08' Brembo system frt & rr! It's not horrible but I can feel it. Was thinkin' of shimming behind the mounting bolts however, does it warp once and remain constant? I installed a new rear rotor awhile back and it's warped as well. Full floating rotors are the long term answer.

I got PM matching rotors in the front. they warped also. not bad but bad enough..... so it's not just Harley. but in PMs defense I was keepin up with a rice rocket in the turns so I will take a bit of the fault in the one. :-)

Well I went ahead and went some semi fancy floaters for the front with vivid black accents. Still have to wonder why the one piece set both went bad and the rear still is ok. maybe they were hot and I hit some water?? Seems that would have affected the rear instead of the front but whatever. Should have the floaters by this weekend and maybe look to getting one for the rear at a later date. Thanks for the replies

You need Lyndall cog drive carbon composite rotors with a lifetime warranty. A piece rotor does not dissipate heat as well as a 2 piece rotor, and the excessive heat is what causes rotors to warp in teh first place.

It is the Brembo calipers that create a lot fo heat and that is why people end up having issues.

In about 90,000 miles I went through 3 sets of front rotors on the front of my '08 RK with ABS. I think the Brembo brakes just generate a lot of heat. I'm a big guy who rides two up and loaded a lot which doesn't help.

I finally broke down and went with floating composite rotors from Matrix. Matrix makes the rotors for Lyndall, offers a lifetime warranty as well but sells them for about $100 less. It was not a cheap fix however, just about $1,200.00 for three new rotors and pads

I run the Lyndall's on my Dyna with Brembo calipers and they are great. Just picked up a bagger and I will be putting Lyndall's on with a set of Brembo calipers as soon as I figure out what wheels I am getting. Well worth it in my book for peace of mind, stopping power and the lifetime warranty. You need to run the Lyndall gold or red pads with their composite rotors so that adds to the cost a little bit.

Had a front rotor warp, got it replaced under warranty - 28K miles on a year old Ultra Ltd. Would have hoped for better, hope it does not happen again - but what I'm reading here doesn't give me confidence. The rotors should be engineered to stand up to the heat generated by usual stops. I don't brake that hard, that often, and don't feel I was outside the envelope for riding that would overheat and warp the rotor.

Next upgrade to look into, I guess. Lyndall? Matrix? Any other candidates?
